My name is Edelsys Rodriguez, founder of A+ Global Tutoring.
I was born and raised in Cuba, where I completed my degree in Nuclear Chemistry and later earned a PhD in Chemistry through a German-Cuban program. In 2009, I immigrated to Canada with my three daughters in search of greater opportunities and a better future for my family.
Guiding and teaching my daughters as they adapted to a new country, language, and educational system deeply shaped my passion for helping students who face similar challenges. I saw firsthand how language barriers and weak academic foundations can affect not only grades, but also confidence and self-esteem.
After 17 years in Academia, including seven years at the University of Calgary, I made the decision to leave my academic career and pursue my true calling: helping students build confidence through education.
I later moved to California following what I believe was part of God’s plan for my life, where I reconnected with my high school sweetheart, the love of my life. My relationship with God has deeply strengthened my sense of purpose, compassion, and commitment to serving students and families through education.
What began as A+ Spanish Tutoring in Canada eventually evolved into A+ Global Tutoring as we expanded into the United States. Today, we support students from elementary school through Grade 12 and into university, with the majority of our students currently based in Canada.
Our team includes highly qualified tutors, including PhDs in STEM fields, who provide personalized support in Math, Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English, and Spanish. We specialize in helping students strengthen foundational skills, especially in bilingual learning environments where language barriers can often affect academic success.
One of the things that matters most to me is building strong relationships with both students and families. We maintain consistent communication, accountability, and personalized support to ensure students not only improve academically, but also grow in confidence and independence.
Today, we continue expanding our proven bilingual STEM tutoring model into the United States, with the goal of helping more students build the strong academic foundations and confidence they need to succeed long-term.
Our goal is not only to help students succeed academically, but to help them believe in themselves and the future God has planned for them.

I could order a beer in Spanish but that was about the extent of my knowledge other than the standard Hola, ¿Cómo estás?. I had family that wanted to take Spanish too so we all signed up for level 1. “I am a former student of A+Spanish tutoring. I first started attending classes for fun but found that learning Spanish through A+ was challenging, interesting and fun. The camaraderie amongst the teacher and students was very enjoyable and made returning to class each week something I looked forward to doing. The A+ Spanish learning strategies were very successful for me and I was surprised at how much Spanish I was able to learn in a short amount of time. Edelsys developed lessons that incorporated speaking, writing, reading and listening in Spanish. Of course, you have to practice the language and be committed to learning outside of the actual class, but I found this enjoyable. Practicing speaking, writing and listening in Spanish with other students and the teacher each week meant that we were able to actually use the vocabulary we learned in a very comfortable environment. Several students socialize outside of class now and host gatherings where we can practice speaking Spanish more and enjoy each other’s company.
